Resume Tailor ("we", "our", or "the extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension.
Privacy First: Your data stays on your device. We do not sell, share, or transmit your personal information to third parties.
Information We Collect
Resume Tailor collects and stores the following information locally on your device:
- Contact Information: Name, email, phone number, and location that you provide for your resume
- Resume Profiles: Work history, skills, education, and other professional information you enter
- Usage Data: Number of resume generations per month (stored locally for free tier tracking)
- Generated Content: Resumes and cover letters you create using the extension
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to:
- Generate tailored resumes based on job postings you view
- Create matching cover letters
- Provide interview preparation questions
- Track your usage against the free tier limit
Data Storage
All personal data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Your data never leaves your device except when:
- Resume Generation: When you generate a resume, the job description and your professional background are sent to our secure AI service to create tailored content. This data is processed in real-time and is not stored on our servers.
- Payment Processing: If you upgrade to Pro, payment information is handled securely by ExtensionPay/Stripe. We never see or store your payment details.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- ExtensionPay: For processing payments and managing subscriptions. See their Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: For secure payment processing. See their Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic Claude API: For AI-powered resume generation. Job descriptions and your background are processed but not stored.
Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Local storage is protected by Chrome's built-in security
- We do not store your personal data on external servers
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: View all your stored data in the extension's Settings tab
- Modify: Edit your profiles and contact information at any time
- Delete: Use the "Clear All Data" button in Settings to permanently remove all stored information
- Export: Download your generated resumes as DOCX files
Permissions Explained
Resume Tailor requires the following Chrome permissions:
- activeTab: To read job posting content from the page you're viewing
- storage: To save your profiles and settings locally
- scripting: To extract job data from job posting websites
- contextMenus: To provide right-click menu options
- Host permissions: To access job data from LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and other job sites
Children's Privacy
Resume Tailor is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
